My first build.
It was an 1,800-square-foot ranch on a crawl space, set in the peaceful countryside of Hendricks County in the mid-1980s. The home was for a family of farmers who had to relocate after the airport bought their land. They wanted to stay connected to the rural lifestyle they loved, and together we created a space that felt just right for them.
The build cost around $140,000.00 — a big investment at the time — and their trust meant everything to me. I wasn’t just building a house; I was helping them start over. That project taught me early on that good construction is about more than materials — it’s about understanding people and building something meaningful. That quiet ranch marked the true beginning of my journey.
